A pig is an animal that the Bible considers unclean. In Desecration, Nicolae Carpathia rode a specially bred, extra-large pig through the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem after his resurrection and then sacrificed it within the Holy of Holies of the Temple, splashing its blood upon the altar and thus defiling the Temple. (This is almost a repeat of Antiochus IV Epiphanes' historical defilement of the Temple, which led to the Jewish revolt led by Judas Maccabaeus.)
In real life, the FDA has just approved (as of Dec 15, 2020) the creation and commercialization of genetically engineered pigs.
