Her political career included working for Senator Strom Thurmond, William Rehnquist confirmation hearings, and working in the White House.

She was a Romance Writers of America (RWA) Golden Heart finalist in 1992. Her first book, The Promise, won a Pewter Award from the National Association of Printing and Publishing Executives, as well as the prestigious Holt Medallion. In 1996, she was voted "Best Up and Coming Author" by the readers of Affaire de Couer.

She divides her time between writing novels and writing, producing, and directing plays for churches. She resides in Virginia with her family.
