Jerusalem is a large city in Israel, and a key locale in the Left Behind series. The Temple that would be desecrated by the Antichrist at the midpoint of the Tribulation would be built there, and would later be destroyed by God and replaced with a new Temple resembling Ezekiel's descriptions during the Millennial Kingdom. The seven-year agreement between the Global Community and Israel that ushered in the seven-year Tribulation period would be signed there. The Antichrist's Unity Army forces would attempt to overthrow the city, and there also be defeated by Jesus Christ at His second coming. Jerusalem would become the new capital city of the world during the Millennial Kingdom, with Jesus ruling on His throne in the new Temple, with King David as His prince. And finally, Satan's armies would gather around Jerusalem at the end of the Millennial Kingdom in an attempt to overthrow God that would end in total failure and for Satan to be cast into the Lake of Fire. Jerusalem along with the rest of the earth was soon after destroyed, and a "new heavens and new earth" was created in its place with a New Jerusalem coming down from the heavens from God.
