Israeli Political Map

Israel is the name of the country located in the Middle East along the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea on the land God has given to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob by a perpetual covenant. Israel is also the name of the people who have descended from the twelve sons of Jacob (renamed Israel), who were the fathers of the twelve tribes. Jews are considered part of Israel. The enemies of Israel, particularly Muslim countries, refer to Israel as Palestine due of the desire of their national leaders wanting to drive its inhabitants "into the sea" since it became a nation again in 1948.

Under a futurist interpretation of the book of Revelation in the Bible, God has not yet fulfilled some of the Old Testament prophecies related to Israel. The plot of the Left Behind books is based on this interpretation and depicts how the authors believe God may fulfill these prophecies in the future.

In "The Rapture", God supernaturally protects Israel from an all-out assault by Russia, fulfilling the prophecy of Ezekiel chapter 38.

In "Tribulation Force", Israel signs a seven-year agreement with Nicolae Carpathia and the Global Community to allow licensed use of the synthetic fertilizer formula created by Dr. Chaim Rosenzweig in exchange for protection from Israel's enemies. The signing of this agreement ushers in the seven-year Tribulation. This agreement is broken 3 1/2 years later when Nicolae desecrates the Temple in Jerusalem, causing a massive outrage among the Jews of Israel who are faithful to God.

During the final year of the Tribulation depicted in "Armageddon", Carpathia gathers up a massive army in the Valley of Megiddo for the Battle of Armageddon. This army is ultimately slain by Jesus Christ during His Second Coming.

Near the end of "Glorious Appearing", Jesus delivers the "sheep and goats" judgment in the Valley of Jehoshaphat, rewarding those who cared for "the least of His brethren" (speaking about Israel) with entrance into His kingdom, and sending those that didn't care for "the least of His brethren" into everlasting punishment.

At the end of the Millennial Kingdom in "Kingdom Come", Satan stages his final insurrection, the second Gog and Magog war. God defeats Satan's army of The Other Light believers as they surround Jerusalem with a heavenly fire that disintegrates both the soldiers and their weapons. Satan is then sent to the Lake of Fire and a "new heavens and new earth" replaces the old, thus bringing to an end the perpetual covenant.
